Supply Chain Manager
Location: Pearl River, NY
Job Type: Full-time
The Supply Chain Manager will lead vendor management, optimize procurement processes, validate new vendors and products, and lead strategic materials planning. This role requires an understanding of manufacturing operations, and a highly organized thinker that can bring structure, cost control, and supply chain alignment to a growing operation. The Supply Chain Manager will take ownership of supplier relationships, including price negotiations, contract terms, and product specifications, and will partner with the production team to ensure materials are available when needed. This role requires both strategy and execution and making key supply chain decisions to support company growth.
About Urban Electric Power
Urban Electric Power (UEP) is commercializing zinc anode rechargeable battery technology developed at the City University of New York (CUNY) Energy Institute. Made from the same environmentally sustainable materials as disposable alkaline batteries, UEP batteries offer a unique combination of enhanced performance, extended lifetime, and low cost. Founded in 2012, UEP is headquartered at its pilot manufacturing and battery testing facility in Pearl River, New York.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the point person for supplier interactions; negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms.
Drive materials planning and purchasing in coordination with production.
Assess supplier quality, reliability, and cost performance regularly.
Lead strategic sourcing and make/buy analysis to mitigate risk and improve margins.
Manage inventory levels, BOM accuracy, and procurement timing.
Lead quoting and estimating efforts; develop accurate cost models.
Collaborate with teams across operations, sales, customer service, and logistics.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives with a lean mindset
Qualifications
5+ years in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement leadership within manufacturing.
Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts.
Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision-making.
Solid understanding of inventory control, production scheduling, and cost analysis.
Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to identify problems and implement solutions proactively
