QA/QC Intern
Location: Pearl River, NY
Job Type: Internship (Part-Time / Full-Time, depending on availability)
Urban Electric Power is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented QA/QC Intern to support our Quality Assurance/Quality Control team in battery electrode manufacturing and testing operations. This role provides hands-on experience in quality systems, data collection, and laboratory-based inspections within an innovative clean energy startup environment. Minimal prior experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided.
Eligibility:
Must be current or former New York State residents who are attending, or have recently (within 12 months) attended, a college or university, with residency established before the internship starts.

About Urban Electric Power
Urban Electric Power (UEP) is commercializing zinc anode rechargeable battery
technology. Made from environmentally sustainable materials used in disposable alkaline batteries, UEP’s technology delivers enhanced performance, extended lifetime, and low cost. Founded in 2012, UEP is headquartered at its pilot manufacturing and battery testing facility in Pearl River, New York.
Key Responsibilities
The QA/QC Intern will assist the QA/QC engineering team with the following activities:
1. Data Collection & Quality Documentation
a. Support data collection during electrode coating processes.
b. Assist QA/QC engineers with Quality Management System (QMS) documentation, recordkeeping, and audit preparation.
2. Electrode Quality Inspection
a. Perform QA checks on electrodes for dimensional measurements and visual defects.
b. Apply established pass/fail acceptance criteria and document inspection results accurately.
3. Failure Analysis & Dissection Support
a. Assist with cut-open dissection analysis of battery cells and electrodes.
b. Capture photographs and record structured observations to support root cause and quality investigations.
4. Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) Development
a. Aid in determining and refining next-generation Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) parameters for electrodes and cells through data review, measurements, and engineering collaboration.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate in engineering (chemical engineering is a plus), chemistry, materials science, data science, or a related technical field.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedure (SOPs).
Comfortable working with measurements, spreadsheets, and basic data recording.
Interest in quality systems, manufacturing, and clean energy technologies.
New York State residency required (per NYSERDA funding guidelines).
Experience in battery technology or manufacturing is a plus
